Ethical Movie Review Blood Diamond Essay Essay Example

Moral Movie Review: Blood Diamond Essay Paper 0. 1 Introduction The undermentioned article will examine moral issues tended to through the film â€Å"Blood Diamond† . The two boss issues distinguished and talked about are ; kid troopers and battle jewels. My main focal point of moral speculations will abide of the four western hypotheses. this incorporates. selfishness. utilitarianism. moralss of duties and moralss of rights. Despite the fact that these speculations depend on moral oppression. I will at present look to utilize a pluralistic position. Moreover. a portion of these hypotheses will be extended and different speculations that do non be given such a great amount towards moral oppression will be included. The undermentioned region will focus more on how these issues happened and try to give some conceivable answer to the employments. So as to make so expressive moral hypotheses will be apparatuses in the examination. At long last the choice will be introduced by a mix of a film reappraisal and a short summarize of the discoveries in the content. We will compose a custom exposition test on Ethical Movie Review: Blood Diamond Essay explicitly for you for just $16.38 $13.9/page Request now We will compose a custom paper test on Ethical Movie Review: Blood Diamond Essay explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer We will compose a custom paper test on Ethical Movie Review: Blood Diamond Essay explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer 1. 1 Children with weapons The first of the two moral issues that will be analyzed is the use of childs as troopers. So as to make so I trust I need to take an abstract capacity on the subject. looking from a Rebel trooper. The reason for this is on the grounds that I accept equitable or western situations regarding this matter will in the terminal territory this is neither good or moral. So as to get an additionally intriguing situation on the undertaking. I will use a substitute assault and try to watch out of the eyes of a trooper taking the use of kid fighters. The request is ; in what manner can the utilization of childs as warriors be advocated? The situation depicted in the film informs us regarding the Revolutionary United Front ( RUF ) . which is an agitator bunch battling the experts in Sierra Leone 1999. To set the situation in a warriors head. one could reason that his or hers thoughts were. â€Å"I am being attacked by the West. they are taking my precious stones. the specialists is degenerate. how might I win this fight? † This position depends on RUF as one disapproved of fighters. of class they are non. be that as it may, so as to do this announcement the reason is so. The primary moral hypothesis that can be connected to the reaction of child fighters is selfishness. The main develop of this hypothesis is defended with one holding to focus on one self image ; to order every single other thing is to hard ( Crane and Matten 2010 ) . It is of import to isolate from childishness. what's more, one can reason that this activity can be advocated as an egocentric mindset. non a childish purpose of position. They do non battle simply for their ain winning ; they battle for what they accept is best for the state and RUF. The rest of the universe would probably contrast to the utilization of childs. however, how might they judge a situation that for a large portion of them is so distant that they can just be partiality non thinking about the situation? One can even venture out so far to express that both the consequentialist hypotheses underpins the activities performed by this Rebel gathering. they are fighting for their ain wants and what they accept is everyone's benefit. So as to make so they need to utilize the assets accessible. thus using kids as fighters and life in utilitarianism. Consequentialist speculations center around the outcome. what's more, one can area that is the thing that must be the point of convergence so as to truly use so youthful individuals for offices in war. The contrasts between the speculations are that vanity centers around the leader while utilitarianism throws an oculus on the more extensive network. which RUF appears to make each piece great while battling against the specialists ( Crane and Matten 2010 ) . For the staying speculations on this issue. there is no 1 that can be related with the utilization of children for these activities. Both non-consequentialist hypotheses have clear good advice that will non back up the class of activities taken by the RUF. Moral obligations have three boss aphorisms. what's more, I accept no RUF officer would want the utilization of child troopers to go a cosmopolitan statute. Saying two investigations will state us that all the children have non openly chosen to go warriors. furthermore, can be supposed to be utilized as organizations by the RUF to achieve their closures. non to instruct the children in the correct way. The third adage inquires as to whether the activities are generally acknowledged. there is no interest for account here. it is non acknowledged by the universe. Moral thought processes of rights and justness has a major point of convergence on human confidence and humankind ; one can sensibly area that there is neither in the use of children as warriors. So we would now be able to do a short summarize to express that with a pluralistic ( perhaps a spot increasingly relativistic ) position on the two consequentialist moral hypotheses the use of childs to tolerate weaponries can be advocated. We will talk this issue further in the accompanying region of the article. however, first the issue of blood jewels will be tended to. 1. 2 â€Å"Bling-Bang† Conflict precious stones or blood jewels as the rubric of the film affirms is an of import moral issue edified by director Edward Zwick. Before going into treatment around moralss sing this subject. a short meaning of battle precious stones is fitting: â€Å"Conflict Diamonds †other than known as blood jewels †are precious stones that are utilized to fuel battle and human rights abuses. They have established primitive conflicts†¦ that have brought about the expire and displacing of 1000000s of individuals. † ( Global Witness 2011 ) . In Sierra Leone 1999 the precious stones are exchanged for to a great extent arms by the RUF. the buyers are enormous precious stone organizations using purifying strategies around the universe so as to â€Å"wash† the stones. As the film shows us. the precious stone industry is incredible and untrustworthy. Working from a place of pluralism which is a moral in the middle of way among oppression and relativism. one which I accept ought to and is being utilized the most. the activities of the precious stones partnerships are very corrupt and dishonest. Pluralism depends on the feeling that ethical quality is a cultural wonder fitting to Kaler ( Crane and Matten 2010 ) . On the off chance that one would reason that profound quality is a cultural wonder. the profound quality of accepting utilization of Rebel bunches as RUF and their most extreme techniques for tasks can in no way be legitimized. Helping condemnable and appalling activities like these should neer be finished. The chilling bit is this is nil new. companies do accept of individuals as offices just which is inverse of what the second adage of moral duties recommend ( Crane and Matten 2010 ) . A quote from the film which depicts this situation. also, suggests that the organizations fool buyers into accepting that each precious stone comes without blood is said by Danny Archer when addressing an American columnist. â€Å"In America it’s bling. be that as it may, around here it’s bling thump. † ( Imdb. com 2011 ) . What Mr. Bowman here says is truly on the topographic point on how dishonest the activities of jewel organizations bamboozle the universe. What's more, they do so wittingly. after all the introduction of the film shows a G8 meeting where precious stone CEO’s are precent and praised for go toing the fight against blood jewels. At the point when they at the terminal so still buy blood precious stones. their activities can be nil else than both corrupt and unscrupulous. For each moral hypothesis that incorporate ethical quality. respect. or then again even everyone's benefit. these individuals do non hope to mind. what's more, it is hard to happen any way to warrant their organizations aside from financial profitss. which is dismal. untrustworthy and unethical. Their activities can be found as exploitative by three of the four moral speculations referenced ; the solitary 1 that again can come to make tranquility of head for the CEO’s is the line of selfishness. Again the financial wants of jewel organizations is by all accounts all they care about. what's more, on the off chance that they accept that everything else is non their activity. so pride will acknowledge the activities of these individuals. There is a however here. what's more, as the last section expressed. they wittingly bamboozle and witt ingly cognize what the historical backdrop of their stones are. They make that history issue to them each piece without further ado as they go to the precious stone gathering. What's more, when they make that blood covering those precious stones matter. misbehaving of the egocentric hypothesis is something they do. what's more, as moral hypotheses are guidelines and directors that decides right and off base. these activities can unmistakably be expressed as mistaken ( Crane and Matten 2010 ) . I will non pass a lot of clasp on covering the three staying speculations regarding this matter since I do non see space for much twisting while mensurating the judgments up to the remaining three hypotheses. Put just. utilitarianism is non upheld on the grounds that their activities are non for everyone's benefit. There is no â€Å"greater good† in buying battle precious stones accidentally for shoppers ; nor is at that place for working a savage common war for prudent plans. There are to significant effects on world’s society for this to be dismissed. Over to the non-consequentialist hypotheses they are as portrayed aforesaid in the paper dependent on ethical quality. sense of pride and mankind. what's more, there are space for little of these builds in the activities of Van de Kaap. Van de Kaap is the character of the jewel CEO in this film. What's more, as referenced prior back uping such abominable military activities resists what the second axi

Subsequently, the term governmental issues is anyway wide in its definition by the way that it goes past the political social affairs and parties and the law making structure. The accompanying conversation is accordingly comprehensive of the women's activist force just as structure and force in Canada. Despite the fact that legislative issues in Canada have been known to be male overwhelmed, ladies have then again not been abandoned on the equivalent. Proposition Statement The Feminist’s battles are evident in Canada, despite the fact that there are blocks that must be defeated for ladies to be sufficiently spoken to in the social-political world. Legislative issues has all the earmarks of being one of the solutions for accomplish social change and improve sex equality in the country. Radical women's activist normalized standards have discovered their way into the state legislative issues, while they are under the umbrella of various alliance associations in Canada. These incorporate the NAC, and the Action Group that are made out of ladies (Andrew and Tremblay 22). Be that as it may, there have been contentions which have constantly restricted the ladies developments yet radical, social and liberal women's activist have remained on the ground contending that in the event that there is any cultural change to be accomplished in Canada, at that point there should initially be an event of progress in the method of living just as the method of reason. This paper will inspect the issue of ladies underrepresentation corresponding to the Canadian governmental issues, the difficulties and the vital estimates that must be put to place to accomplish sex equality in the political arena.Advertising Looking for article on sexual orientation examines? This makes it sure that sexual orientation underrepresentation is genuine in Canada. The issue is evaded by the open authorities as well as the media (Trimble Arscot xiv). Unmistakably ladies in Canada have been for quite a while been minimized, along these lines it has not been conceivable enough to utilize little gatherings in the political field where there is a requirement for thought of the community oriented structures. To begin with, it is essential to take a gander at the chronicled foundation concerning women's activist force, structure, and legislative issues in Canada. It is unmistakably confirm that there has been an incredible current liberal women's liberation, which has originated from the deliberate intimidation of ladies in Canada as ladies were directed to the home circles. The social patriarch constrained ladies to overwhelm on the priva te lives at home, accordingly there was no space for them to open up to the world in power or, in all likelihood governmental issues. In 1960s, the women's activist exercises in Canada held another forward movement regarding social alteration where they underlined on the pulverization of the purported patriarch rule structure. Out of the adjustments of the women's activist regulation in Canada along these lines, women’s development prompted an addition in the authoritative portrayal in the relational intricacies just as their reconfigurations. There were no much desires for the reappearing of the women’s development in the 1960’s regarding political security remembering the financial status of Canada after the prosperous after war. In Canada, there had been where ladies felt somewhat secure if only one lady was discovered present in government authoritative body. For Instance, the administration set up the Royal Commission on the Status of Women in nineteen seve nty followed by the Women’s Program in nineteen seventy three under the secretary of state. The Women’s program devoted its accounts especially to the women’s gatherings to improve their ways of life. Constantly nineteen eighty five, the parliament looked into the Canada Assistance Plan Act and supplanted it with Canada Health and Social Transfer which radically decreased financing to among other social administrations, the consideration giving services.Advertising We will compose a custom exposition test on The Feminist Power and Structure in Canada explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More It likewise balanced the protection conspire in regards to business which brought about ladies being forgotten about. Every one of these components added to poor expectations for everyday comforts for ladies since the greater part of them couldn't work. Along these lines, by nineteen sixty seven 33% of unmarried ladies were suffering from neediness while by nine teen ninety five, the figure had climbed to fifty six percent. Be that as it may, the administration set up another service perceived as a Minister of women’s Equality having granted 8,000,000 dollars between nineteen ninety six up to nineteen ninety seven which was 5,000,000 dollars not as much as that granted from the year nineteen eighty nine till at that point. Shockingly, the National Action Committee on the Status of Women sacked pretty much every staff which implied what's to come was questionable for Canadian ladies at this point dissimilar to in different countries where ladies were altogether spoken to in the legislature. For example, the Scandinavian countries had ladies portrayal of 30%. This reflects certainty that the Canada didn't enough grasp the social elements that had happened before and which quickened the ladies to gain authority (Kramarae Spender 1602). Women's activist Theories in Relation to the Canadian Politics Feminist hypotheses have been known to assume an exceptionally huge job in the Canadian ladies governmental issues, which include: liberal, communist, and radical speculations of woman's rights. The structure of these three hypotheses is comparative despite the fact that their procedures happen to appear as something else. The entirety of the hypotheses have a shared objective of the improvement of the societal position of the Canada ladies, their monetary movement just as the political field according to ladies. Liberal women's liberation hypothesis rule depends on the advancement of opportunity which should be delighted in by all ladies notwithstanding fairness which ought to be accomplished by all self-rulingly. Concerning the structures of the dynamic, liberal hypothesis doesn't see the requirement for the change or adjustments a long way from them that are influenced in the possibility of ladies incorporation on fairness. Along these lines, there is a room which is made by this hypothesis where men have more space in the social structures for any women's activist change to happen in the female partners. The structure of dynamic or any development of law is simply in the men’s hands for the persistent administration of ladies in its standard. Out of the deficiency in the liberal hypothesis, communist hypothesis appe ared in the endeavors of meeting the insufficiencies (Maclvor 40). Communist hypothesis is the second women's activist hypothesis which held a major part to play in ladies and legislative issues in Canada concerning force, structure and governmental issues. The contention which is situated in the communist hypothesis is the need to accomplish financial methods just as the ability to appreciate the monetary methods for the whole achievement of the political radicalism. For quite a while ladies in Canada had and still experience abuse despite the fact that there are changes which have been put forth out of the attempts of the developments. They along these lines experienced distance particularly in the work power, subordinate working levels when contrasted with that of men, and the residential work as house spouses. Communist women's activists contended that there was a requirement for ladies to open up to the world as much as they conveyed most of the private lives. Private life incl uded working under the household setting in which it was impractical to decide the fitting fiscal worth. In this way there was an extraordinary need to have social changes (Maclvor 26). The social changes were to give substitutes to the industrialist creation and the build in the family set-up. This position prompted the appearance of the third hypothesis which settled upon the examination arranged by the communist women's activist in regard to social-monetary status which was held by ladies †Radical woman's rights. Radical women's liberation hypothesis was brought forth because of the dissatisfaction, which was made in governmental issues. Ladies came into acknowledgment that they were just being misused only for sexual purposes. As indicated by the extreme women's activists, what was refe

Snow!

Snow! All around North America, its been a pretty snowless winter. Some people are excited by that, because the cold, bleak winter is a tough time for them and the less snow, the more they can deny winter exists. For me though, its tragic. Snow is one of my favorite things, and winter is probably my favorite season. Im just not built for the beaches and heat. Sunburns suck, sand doesnt do it for me, and the heat is just tougher for me to handle. The cold though, especially up in the mountains, is invigorating. The hush, the electric cold tingling your lungs with every breath; soft fluffy powder (you NE folks will just have to imagine what I mean) and vistas unrivalled. Yes, I was meant for the mountains. So imagine my disappointment when Im eagerly waiting for a huge storm to blow in, skis in hand, and it never happens. After the massive amounts of snow we had around here last year, it was torture. I had resigned that  this would be the year we had no winter. And for a long time, it looked like I would be right. We in the outdoors club even called off our Winter Circus trip this weekend because, well, it didnt look like there was going to be any winter! But if theres one thing to describe Bostons weather more than terrible (no offense New England, just not my scene), its weird. And weirdly enough, on the first day of March we had our first big-ish snowstorm. Of course now school is in full swing and Im running full-tilt to try and get things done to graduate in June (eeep! real world! yikes!) so theres no way I can sneak off to the mountains for a few runs. Grumble grumble. Of course all things in due time, and maybe next year when I have a real-ish job I can spend more time out in the mountains that I love. Heck, if I could do that for my job, thatd be a dream come true. I cant imagine an engineering position that would be more fulfilling to me right now than designing climbing and ski gear for someone like Black Diamond, who is based out of Salt Lake City a.k.a Park City UT. Fingers crossed. But since I wont be out and enjoying the slopes this weekend and thus not transferring that experience to you vicariously, youll have to make due with this video I made but never got around to posting from the end of IAP: Snow! I returned back to campus on December 29th, and as the Amtrak approached Boston South Station, I spotted snow on the tracks! As I stepped off the train, I was greeted by a gulf of freezing wind. I mean literally freezing. I took the T to Kendall, and after exiting the station, I realized that it would probably be in my best interest to take the tunnels instead of freezing and trying to make my way through snow-covered sidewalks. I had yet to master the tunnels and navigate through them on my own, so this was going to be one interesting adventure. I had been down in the tunnels with friends a few times before, but as a directionally-challenged person (read: I can still get lost with Google Maps), I wouldnt trust myself to find my way on my own. Thankfully, though, there were a few signs leading the way to main campus. But there werent always directional signs. Some hallways and walls looked somewhat familiar, though, so I trusted my intuition and hoped for the best. I made some wrong turns that lead to dead ends, but I somehow managed to find my way back to the main path. And somehow I made it to the other side of campus. Somehow. But as I exited Lobby 7 and headed towards Burton Conner, I reached another dead end where the cleared walking path suddenly just ended. I backtracked a bit until I found a detour to the road and walked along the street instead. But I eventually did make it back to my dormand, most importantly, in one piece. I immediately crashed when I got back. Snow is stressful. The next morning, I felt adventurous and decided to explore a snow-blanketed MIT with my camera. I dug out all my snow and winter gear and bundled up from head to toe. Here are some shots: Ready for some exploring.   Burton Conner from the Memorial Drive entrance, featuring some snow.   Walking/running path along the Charles River.   A foggy Boston skyline. Kresge Auditorium. Hayden Library.   A quote I found in front of Hayden that I had not seen before which reads: I am firmly convinced that the future of this nation and of the world for that matter depends in no small part upon the young men of the United States and that if they receive proper training in boyhood and youth through education, mental recreation, wholesome educational entertainment and coordinated physical training and more than all if in addition they be fostered and encouraged in the matter of right and proper living and the principles thereof properly inculcated to the end that they may be kept from evil environments and guarded against baneful influences, we shall rear a nobler race of men who will make better and more enlightened citizens to the ultimate benefit of mankind. Charles Hayden, 19 August 1933. Green Building. Outside Building 6. Pano of North Court. Killian Court (and, as always, construction in the background).   Building 7/Little Dome. The next evening it snowed ever so slightly, just light snowfall. But then in the next few nights the snow started to gradually melt away. As of right now, there isnt much snow cover left, but its still pretty cold. On Tuesday, it literally reached single digits (in Fahrenheit). I stayed mostly indoors the entire day. Now, its back in the 30s and 40s. Apparently on Sunday it might reach 55 degrees. And then itll probably get cold again, and then who knows. Like is it winter or is it not? Side note: Congrats to yall who applied RA! Its crazy to think that I had submitted my MIT app just one year ago. Best of luck, and, in the meantime, enjoy your last semester of high school and keep on being your awesome selves!

Bringing New High-Technology Products to Market: Six Perils Awaiting Marketers (Essay Sample) Content: Bringing New High-Technology Products to Market: Six Perils Awaiting MarketersStudents name Institution AbstractIn 2016, millions of users downloaded PokÐ ¹mon Go, a reality video game app. The company experienced immense success which is rare in technology products. Marketing technology products is not easy since there are several obstacles, uncertainties, and compatibility issues that have to be addressed. Moreover, technology products experience various challenges in terms of network effects, ecosystem complexities, and competition. The article highlights several aspects that marketers can use to addresses various market issues and problems. Keywords: PokÐ ¹mon Go, technology product IntroductionIn 2016, millions of people downloaded the PokÐ ¹mon Go product when the company first released it. The exceptional adoption of the product in the market was outstanding. However, marketing high technology products is complicated due to uncertainties in the market, comp atibility issues, network challenges and ecological complexities (Dhebar, 2016). Nevertheless, marketers have come up with necessary steps to address these challenges. This paper will analyze challenges faced by technology development companies, possible solutions, opportunities as well as weaknesses.History and GrowthPokÐ ¹mon Go is an app that was developed following the partnership between Niantic and Nintendo, which formed the PokÐ ¹mon group. The application uses the phones Global Positioning System (GPS) to establish, capture, fight as well as guide creatures virtually through an application known as PokÐ ¹mon. The company offers the game for free, but if one needs additional features, they have to purchase them. When the app was first released, the company received criticism and praise in equal measure. To begin with, those who criticized the concept felt that the company overlooks several technical issues. Despite various challenges, the app was downloaded by more than 500 million users across the world, making it to be the most successful application in 2016 (Dhebar, 2016). This was no mean feat given that there were several technical challenges, especially when dealing with technology. Moreover, reaching the 500 million mark shows that the marketers did a tremendous job. Marketing an app is not an easy task especially in this era why there are numerous competing forces, low supply, and increased consumer sensitivity. Analysis of external environmentThe main forces that influence the market adoption of an app include market demand, app store requirements and changing customer tastes and preferences (Truong et al. 2017). PokÐ ¹mon popularized location-based technologies, promoted physical activities and helped local businesses to expand owing to increased traffic. PokÐ ¹mon was not only innovative, but the invention opened up several business opportunities for investors (Dhebar, 2016). Nevertheless, there were several controversies in the sen se that it caused distraction and caused public annoyance. Several governments raised concerns about security issues while other countries opted to regulate the use of the app in their countries (Dhebar, 2016). However, this was extreme as the use of the app depends on an individual. Life is about choices, the preference one takes in life determines various things. For example, the view that using the app raises security issues is unfounded since the app is specifically a game, how is a game a security concern? Why does someone allow himself to get carried away by a game? However, despite these challenges, the app has since been downloaded over 370 million times to date. Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threatsThe app had several opportunities, first of all, one can form and modify their avatar. Moreover, once an avatar has been created, it is captured directly in a map based on the player's physical position (Dhebar, 2016). This aspect makes people identify with the app an d draws more customers to download the app.Another opportunity for PokÐ ¹mon is that they can use the location-based feature in their app to market different products. This feature allows marketers to provide highly customized promotions that are specifically designed for a particular market (Dhebar, 2016). This aspect is an opportunity which the company can exploit by getting various companies to market their products through the app, which means that a revenue stream for the company is created. Moreover, while using the location-based feature, companies can understand their clients better since they can align specific strategies depending on the client's demands which enable the company to find even more clients (Aydalot Keeble 2018). However, the main weaknesses are that clients may fear that the product can be used to spy on them. There are several substitutes and competitors, in the technology world, moreover, several uncertainties exist regarding product development, proc edures, distributions, and even competitors. The technology world is indecisive in itself; this is because new and better technologies are being developed on a daily basis (Dhebar, 2016). This aspect makes the technology industry to be the most unpredictable. The major threat is that there are several technologies that arise right and left. For example, the person who invented the rat trap expects clients to come and acquire the device, however, another person will use poison to eliminate rats which means there will be no demand for a rat trap. Likewise, another enticing game can be developed from an entirely different industry which can surpass the current app. This means substitutions can be a primary cause of uncertainty (Keeble Wilkinson 2017).However, the company can still be competitive by developing more new and intrusive features that can attract more clients to use the app. This way, the app will survive and surpass the uncertainties in the market. Moreover, the company is already established in the market. Therefore, it has more opportunities to be the market leader compared to new apps which are not yet set in the market. Most technology products are designed to be used alongside complementors; this complementors worsen the already uncertain market. Different companies develop these gadgets and have its targets and interests. Additionally, there are competitors to those complementors which causes further uncertainties (Aydalot Keeble 2018). What the company ought to do is to design their unique complementors. This will enable the company to wade off stiff competition in the market. Moreover, developing their own complementors will give the company exclusive powers to determine the design and other complimentary features on the product. Technologists also grapple with bumpy markets since they are not sure of how the product will be received in the market. Additionally, development of the app has its own challenges in terms of coding which can af fect date of release. Other issues which developers are forced to deal with include the uncertainty in terms of quality, negative effects of the product, and the fact that the future performance of the product is uncertain (Jin, Jeong Yoon, 2015). However, technology should be gauged based on the market. Therefore, any ambiguity in terms of how the technology will perform will be addressed. Additionally, prior studies should be conducted about market demands and requirements. This will allow app developers to become informed of what the market expects from them. Hence, resources will not be wasted in terms of workforce inputs, time, and money. Analysis of the findingsCustomers tend to believe that new technologies are hard to use, however, what developers should understand is that clients gain value when all sections of the system connect well (Truong et al. 2017). Additionally, all system accompaniments should be designed to go with the evolving designs. This will ensure that th e gadgets used to compliment the program are also classy and attractive to consumers. Moreover, the app should be accompanied by a help menu that can guide clients. This will allow customers to refer to the list whenever they need any clarification. The network effect should also be addressed; most apps have challenges of the network. Developers should, therefore, design their apps to auto connect to the net whenever there is any form of intermittencies (Jin, Jeong Yoon, 2015). This will ensure tha...
